Love Study

Love

Matt. 22:37-40

Since Christ commands us to love it must be something we are able to choose to do. It is not a feeling we have little or no control over.

The Love Chapter, I Corinthians 13

First what love is not.

  • Verse 1: A silver tongue. Can't talk your way in.

  • Verse 2: IntelligenceCan't think your way in.

  • Verse 3: Philanthropy and MartyrdomCan't buy your way in.

What love is: You decide. Verses 13:4-7

  • Patient:
  • Kind:
  • Not jealous:
  • Not boastful:
  • Not Arrogant:
  • Not self-seeking:
  • Doesn't get provoked: easily is not in the Greek text, sorry.
  • Love doesn't keep track of wrongs suffered:
  • Doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness:
  • Rejoices in truth:Bears all things:
  • Believes all things: This doesn't mean love is gullible; instead it means it is not suspicious.
  • Hopes:
  • Endures:
  • Verses 8-10 All else shall pass away.
  • Verses 11-12 Maturity

Now these three things remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. I Corinthians 13:13
